Journalist and cultural observer Os Guinness discusses his new book Unspeakable: Facing Up to Evil in an Age of Genocide and Terror at Cambridge Forum on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. at First Parish, 3 Church Street, Harvard Square, in Cambridge. A book-signing courtesy of Harvard Book Store follows the program.
Since 9/11, the word "evil" has re-entered the American popular lexicon, after years of disuse. American culture now acknowledges evil as a reality of daily life, but how well do we actually understand it? Our answers to this question drive not only personal moral decisions but also have a profound impact on our national politics and international policies. Are warfare and violence inevitable aspects of the human condition? How can an understanding of evil promote peaceful resolution of conflicts?
Os Guinness is the author of more than twenty books including The Call, Invitation to the Classics, and Long Journey Home. A frequent speaker and seminar leader at political and business conferences in the United States and Europe, he's spoken both at the White House as well as lectured at many universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, Harvard and Stanford. A former BBC reporter, Guinness has lived in the United States since 1984.

Cambridge Forums are free and open to the public. Book signing will follow
